Optimize with Maximum Control

In this four-part live online workshop experience, you'll learn to master the use of Adobe Photoshop to optimize your photos in the context of a workflow that revolves around Adobe Lightroom Classic. What that means is that the workshop will focus on just the features of Photoshop that go beyond what is possible in the Develop module in Lightroom Classic, so you can take your photo optimization to the next level.

Along the way, get your questions answered during the live sessions or via email.

The four live online sessions will take place during the month of January 2021. Each session will be approximately two hours in duration. All sessions will be recorded, so that photographers who register for this workshop can view (and download) the session recordings anytime at their convenience.

This online workshop is about more than just understanding how Photoshop works. You'll get tips on how to make decisions about the specific adjustments you apply, learn about achieving your full vision for a photo, learn about how various effects impact the perception of a photo, and much more. Along the way you'll gain confidence in your ability to use Adobe Photoshop to optimize your photos beyond Lightroom Classic.

Session Details

During the four live online sessions included in this online workshop, you'll learn to make the most of the many tools within Adobe Photoshop to optimize the appearance of your photos beyond the context of a workflow in Adobe Lightroom Classic. Here are details of the topics covered in each session:

Workflow Basics

This session will guide you through the configuration and basic workflow issues to help you make the use of Photoshop within your workflow for Lightroom Classic. Topics will include:

• Configuring settings in Lightroom Classic related to adjusting photos in Photoshop.
• Workflow for sending photos to Photoshop and back to Lightroom Classic.
• Editing derivative images in Photoshop after they have been closed.
• Basic configuration in Photoshop and overview of key features.
• Using filters (and smart filters) in Photoshop for special effects.
• Dodging and burning in Photoshop.
• Introduction to the Camera Raw Filter for access to Develop settings within Photoshop.

Image Cleanup

In this session you'll learn how to use the powerful image cleanup tools in Photoshop, which enable you to achieve much better results than are generally possible in Lightroom Classic. This will include:

• Fixing challenging color problems.
• Coverage of all of the key image cleanup tools.
• Tips for making the most of image cleanup techniques in Photoshop.
• Powerful techniques for manually resolving blemishes and distractions in your photos.

Creating Selections

Selections are an incredibly powerful building block for applying targeted adjustments as well as creating composite images. This session will cover:

• Concepts to understand when it comes to using selections in Photoshop.
• Introduction to all of the selection tools in Photoshop, and their settings and use.
• Advanced techniques for creating selections based on various image attributes.
• Modifying and improving selections.

Targeted Adjustments

This session will demonstrate what is perhaps the pinnacle of control over your photos in Photoshop. You'll learn how to apply adjustments that only affect specific areas of a photo, with topics that will include:

• Concepts related to applying targeted adjustments in Photoshop.
• Basic workflow for applying a targeted adjustment.
• Techniques for refining layer masks to optimize the accuracy and quality of your adjustment effects.
• Methods for evaluating the overall accuracy of your layers masks for targeted adjustments.
