Composite Images in Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop includes an overwhelming number of adjustment options, making it possible to create any image you can imagine. That includes tools for blending multiple photos together into a composite, using a variety of techniques.

In this four-part live online workshop experience, you'll learn how to produce many different types of composite images in Photoshop.

Along the way, you'll be able to get your questions answered by Tim Grey during the live sessions or via email.

The four live online sessions will take place during the month of November 2020. Each session will be approximately two hours in duration. All sessions will be recorded, so that photographers who register for this workshop can view (and download) the session recordings anytime at their convenience.

Concepts for Composites

This session will introduce you to the key topics you'll want to understand when creating composite images, and introduce you to some basic techniques. Topics will include:

• Understanding selections, layer masks, alpha channels, and more
• Working with layers in Photoshop
• Arranging and aligning layers
• Special automated blending techniques
• And more

Selections Deep Dive

This session will focus on the many tools and techniques you can use to create selections as a starting point for a composite image. Topics will include:

• Extensive coverage of all of the selection tools in Photoshop
• Automatic selections of objects in an image
• Creating selections by color or tonal range in an image
• Selecting areas of a photo that are in focus
• And more

Creating Composite Images

In this session you'll learn the process of creating composite images, including a wide variety of techniques for blending two or more image layers. Topics will include:

• Creating a selection-based composite image
• Painting to create or refine a composite
• Improving the quality the masks that define your composite images
• Using composite techniques for creative effects
• Correcting tonal and color mismatches for composites

Fine-Tuning and Special Effects

During this session you'll learn how to fine-tune your composite images and add special effects. Topics will include:

• Transforming a layer mask
• Evaluating a layer mask
• Advanced masking techniques
• Adding layer styles and other effects
• Adding a shadow for a composited object
